A New Name, A New Chapter

Why I’m Changing My Blog Name: From “Almost Catholic” to “From Pulpit to Pew”

Change is never just about a name—it’s about identity, direction, and truth.

For a while, this space was called Almost Catholic: The Journey Home. At the time, that name fit where I was. I was exploring, questioning, standing on the threshold of something I didn’t fully understand yet. “Almost” captured that tension—the in-between place of searching, learning, and slowly being drawn somewhere deeper.

But I’m not in that same place anymore.

This journey has moved from curiosity to commitment, from observation to participation. And with that shift, the name “Almost Catholic” no longer reflects who I am or where I’m going.

So I’m changing it.

Welcome to From Pulpit to Pew.

This new name tells the story more honestly.

I used to stand at the pulpit. I preached, taught, and led. My faith was something I shared with others from a place of authority and responsibility.

Now, I’m sitting in the pew.

I’m learning. Listening. Discovering. Receiving.

And that shift has been both humbling and beautiful.

From Pulpit to Pew isn’t just a title—it’s a testimony. It speaks to the movement from leading to being led, from speaking to hearing, from certainty to deeper truth. It reflects a journey not of losing faith, but of finding it more fully.

“I used to preach it. Now I’m discovering it.”

There’s something powerful about allowing yourself to become a student again. To admit that there is more to learn. To step into a tradition that is ancient, rich, and at times challenging—but also deeply grounding and transformative.

This space will continue to be what it has always been at its core:

  • A place for honest reflection
  • A place for faith and growth
  • A place for writing and processing
  • A place for the beauty of coming home

But now, it will be rooted more clearly in where I stand today—and where I believe I’m being led.

If you’ve been following along, thank you. Truly. Whether you’ve agreed, questioned, or simply observed, your presence here matters.

And if you’re new, welcome.
